Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence venture xAI has begun rolling out a beta version of a video-generation capability inside its Grok chatbot application. The new “Imagine” feature is available to subscribers on an early-access basis, with users able to join a waitlist through the Grok mobile app starting 28 July. According to company engineering updates, Imagine can create images almost in real time and turn text or image prompts into short videos that include sound. xAI is also introducing two interactive companions, named Valentine and Ani, as part of the beta experience. The release marks Grok’s first major expansion beyond text responses, underscoring xAI’s push to match rivals in the fast-moving generative-AI market. The company has not specified when the feature will move beyond beta or reach general availability.
