Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence chatbot Grok has amassed 6 million followers on X, the social-media service formerly known as Twitter. The milestone, disclosed by Musk and corroborated by data shared on the platform, places Grok well ahead of rival AI accounts such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which has about 445,000 followers, Perplexity with 330,000, Google’s Gemini at 169,000 and Anthropic’s Claude at 88,000. The surge comes as X carries out another purge of automated and fake accounts, part of a broader effort by the company to improve the reliability of follower metrics. Musk, who acquired the platform in 2022, launched Grok last year as a conversational AI system that draws on real-time posts from X to answer user queries.
