OpenAI has announced that its ChatGPT Deep Research feature, previously exclusive to ChatGPT Pro subscribers at a cost of $200 per month, will soon be available to users on the free tier. CEO Sam Altman has indicated that free users will be able to use Deep Research twice per month, while ChatGPT Plus subscribers will have access to it ten times per month. The company plans to increase these usage limits over time. Deep Research is designed to conduct in-depth research by analyzing and synthesizing information from hundreds of online sources, producing comprehensive reports comparable to those of a research analyst. This feature is also now accessible on mobile and desktop apps for all Pro users, with Plus users expected to gain access in about a month, pending safety testing.
