Protests erupted across Angola following a one-third increase in diesel prices this month, leading to violent clashes, widespread unrest, and public anger over rising fuel costs and perceived government inaction. The demonstrations began in the capital, Luanda, where roads were blocked and shops looted. Initial reports indicated at least four people were killed and hundreds arrested. However, the death toll has since risen significantly. According to Interior Minister Manuel Homem, 22 people have died in the protests since they started on Monday. While authorities have stated that calm has returned to Luanda, unrest continues in some parts of the city and has spread to other areas, including the city of Huambo.
