Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for restraint amid rising tensions between Russia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing Ankara's deep diplomatic and strategic ties with both countries. Following his return from the Economic Cooperation Organization summit in Azerbaijan, Erdogan stressed the importance of preventing escalations that could cause irreparable damage to the relationship between Moscow and Baku. He highlighted that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev is not in favor of escalation and expressed confidence that both Russia and Azerbaijan have the wisdom to overcome the crisis. Erdogan also referred to the Zangezur Corridor as a “geo-economic revolution” that will connect Azerbaijan to its exclave Nakhchivan, bringing new opportunities to the region. Turkey continues to monitor the situation closely and urges both sides to exercise calm and constructive dialogue to resolve the tensions.
