Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker on 10 July, the Turkish Presidency said. The leaders reviewed bilateral relations and a range of regional and global issues. Erdogan told Stocker that Ankara and Vienna should make fuller use of their trade and investment potential and would continue taking steps to deepen economic cooperation, according to the read-out. Turning to regional crises, Erdogan said “the opportunity to end the war between Russia and Ukraine should not be wasted” and stressed the need for urgent, unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also reaffirmed Türkiye’s efforts to stabilise Syria and improve conditions that would allow the voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
