The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have approved loans totaling approximately $1.5 billion to Bangladesh for various development projects. The World Bank has authorized $640 million for two initiatives aimed at enhancing gas supply infrastructure and improving air quality, as well as an additional $500 million to support governance reforms, financial sector stability, and corporate governance. Concurrently, the ADB has approved loans amounting to $900 million, including $400 million to boost climate resilience and inclusive development, and $500 million to reform the banking sector. Separately, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $1.3 billion disbursement for the third and fourth tranches of Bangladesh's $4.7 billion loan program, initially sanctioned in January 2023 for a period of three and a half years. This IMF funding supports Bangladesh's ongoing currency and tax reforms. Additionally, Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves have reached $27.3 billion, supported by remittances and IMF backing.
