A large fire on the evening of 16 July severely damaged the elaborately decorated main stage of Tomorrowland, one of the world’s biggest electronic dance music events, in Boom, Belgium. Flames and thick smoke were visible across the site, and fireworks stored for the show ignited as the structure burned. Emergency services said roughly 100 firefighters brought the blaze under control within hours. Around 1,000 construction and technical staff were on site finishing preparations, but authorities reported no injuries. Investigators are examining the cause, with local media citing the possibility of an accident during pyrotechnics testing. Festival organisers confirmed that the two-weekend event—set to welcome about 400,000 visitors between 18–20 July and 25–27 July—will proceed. The DreamVille campsite opened on Thursday as planned, and crews worked overnight to erect an alternative main stage so that scheduled headliners such as David Guetta, Martin Garrix and Swedish House Mafia can perform. Further safety checks and contingency measures remain in place while the inquiry continues.
