Eigen Labs has announced its first EigenLayer Improvement Proposal (ELIP-001), titled Rewards v2, aimed at enhancing the flexibility, efficiency, and customization of rewards within the EigenLayer ecosystem. This forthcoming protocol upgrade is designed to allow actively validated services (AVSs) to distribute rewards based on validator performance. Additionally, the Eigen Foundation is establishing a Protocol Council composed of five members, including Sigma Prime, Unit410, and Gonçalo Sa, to oversee governance and security, as well as review future Improvement Proposals (ELIPs). The updates are expected to significantly boost the restaking rewards system, making it more adaptable for both validators and protocols.
