Botafogo, the Brazilian football club and current champion of the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão, has officially appointed Davide Ancelotti as its new head coach. The 35-year-old Italian is the son of Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of the Brazilian national team. Davide Ancelotti had previously worked as an assistant coach alongside his father at Real Madrid and with the Brazil national team but this marks his first role as a principal manager. Botafogo initiated the negotiation with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) following the dismissal of former coach Renato Paiva after the club's elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup. Davide signed a contract valid until the end of 2026 and is expected to bring an offensive style of play, aligned with the club's philosophy known as the "Botafogo Way." The contract includes a clause allowing him to assist his father during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Davide arrived in Rio de Janeiro to finalize the contract and has already started working with the team, accompanied by a coaching staff including two assistants and a physical trainer. Carlo Ancelotti publicly wished his son success and expressed his intention to closely follow his career. The appointment has been widely covered and confirmed by multiple international and Brazilian sports media outlets.
