During the BRICS summit held in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) intercepted three aircraft that entered a restricted airspace zone. The interceptions were carried out by FAB Super Tucano fighter planes tasked with enforcing the airspace restrictions established for the event. In addition to the aircraft interceptions, the FAB also seized 81 drones and prohibited the takeoff of 170 drones in the area. The restricted airspace measures remained active through the duration of the summit, which concluded on July 7. The FAB also conducted in-flight refueling operations for its fighter jets during the event to maintain continuous air patrols.
