Between June 25 and July 11, 2025, Russian air defense forces reported shooting down multiple waves of Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions. The numbers of drones intercepted overnight fluctuated, with reports of 18, 39, 50, 60, 69, 48, 94, 120, 91, 86, 14, and reaching a peak of 155 drones downed on July 11. The drones were intercepted across several regions including Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Smolensk, Tula, Moscow Oblast, Rostov, Volgograd, Crimea, Lipetsk, Voronezh, and others, as well as over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that these interceptions occurred during nighttime hours and involved coordinated air defense operations. On July 11, 155 Ukrainian drones were shot down, including 11 over Moscow Oblast, with 53 downed over Kursk region alone. No damage was reported from these drone incursions. Additionally, on July 11, Ukraine reportedly launched 79 attack drones, including up to 60 Shahed drones, with Ukrainian air defenses shooting down 44 of these and jamming or losing another 16.
