Russian airports have faced severe disruptions due to ongoing threats of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks between July 5 and 7, 2025. Approximately 485 flights were canceled and nearly 2,000 delayed across multiple airports including Sheremetyevo, Pulkovo, Strigino (Nizhny Novgorod), Moscow, Ivanovo, Kaluga, St. Petersburg, and Tambov. In total, around 287 flights were canceled specifically at Sheremetyevo, Pulkovo, and Strigino airports. The disruptions have left over 7,000 passengers stranded at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport alone, with more than 100 flights delayed and 30 canceled there. The cumulative impact of these cancellations and delays has caused losses estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars, with Russian media reporting potential costs of up to 20 billion rubles to airlines. Additionally, 88 aircraft were rerouted to alternative airports amid the chaos. The situation reflects a continuing operational collapse at Russian airports driven by fears of drone attacks, severely affecting air travel and passenger movement across the country.
