Brazil is home to more than 4 million transgender, travesti, and non-binary individuals. Despite being regarded as one of the most progressive countries in terms of LGBTQIA+ rights, Brazil experiences the highest rates of violence against transgender people globally, including killings and sexual assaults. In response to these challenges, several churches in the country have implemented controversial conversion therapies targeting transgender individuals. These therapies have raised growing concerns amid ongoing threats and acts of transphobia, which have even led some transgender influencers to leave Brazil for safety reasons.
