Corinthians head coach Dorival Júnior reiterated that the squad needs "at least four" additional players after a 1–0 away victory over Ceará in the 14th round of the 2025 Brazilian league. Speaking at the Castelão stadium, he said the team has been forced to rely on academy prospects such as 18-year-old forward Gui Negão because of injuries and suspensions to senior attackers Yuri Alberto, Ángel Romero and Memphis Depay. Dorival attributed the slow pace of recruitment to an internal power transition that followed the departure of club president Augusto and the arrival of interim leader Osmar. According to the coach, negotiations led by executive director Fabinho Soldado stalled during the leadership change, causing the club to miss out on several targets. The club has yet to finalize a signing in the current window after recent exits of midfielders Igor Coronado and Alex Santana and forward Giovane. Fabinho Soldado said Corinthians will pursue reinforcements "within the club’s financial reality," noting that upfront payments demanded by selling teams have complicated talks. Corinthians return to league action on Saturday against São Paulo at Morumbis, followed by fixtures against Cruzeiro and Botafogo later in July.
