Brazilian planemaker Embraer secured a R$21.8 billion (about US$4 billion) contract to supply 45 E195-E2 jets to Scandinavian Airlines, with purchase rights for a further 10 aircraft. The agreement is described by Embraer as its biggest single order in almost three decades and the largest placed by SAS with a lone manufacturer since 1996. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2027 and continue for roughly four years. The narrow-body E195-E2 can seat up to 146 passengers and is certified to fly on blends of up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel; Embraer says the model is able to operate on 100% SAF as it becomes available. The deal strengthens Embraer’s foothold in Europe and supports SAS’s fleet-renewal plan aimed at improving fuel efficiency and cutting emissions from its Copenhagen hub. The order also comes as Embraer faces the prospect of higher U.S. import tariffs, underscoring the manufacturer’s efforts to diversify its customer base.
