French aerospace and defense company Safran has finalized the acquisition of the flight control and actuation activities from Collins Aerospace. The acquired business will be consolidated within Safran Electronics & Defense starting August 1, 2025. In addition to this acquisition, Safran announced plans to invest 450 million euros in a new carbon brake manufacturing plant located in the Ain department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France. The decision to build the factory in France, rather than in the United States or Canada, was influenced by factors including sovereignty, reindustrialization, and decarbonization goals. French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted the role of competitive and clean electricity from EDF in attracting global industry leaders to the region.
