Hernán Crespo is officially cleared to take charge of São Paulo FC after his name was published on Monday in the Brazilian Football Confederation’s Boletim Informativo Diário, the registration system that authorises participation in domestic competitions. The 49-year-old Argentine, hired in June to replace Luis Zubeldía, will make his debut on the touchline when São Paulo visit Flamengo at Maracanã on Saturday, 12 July, at 16:30 Brasília time, in the 13th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Crespo had already been leading training sessions, but the club could not register him until it finalised the paperwork for Zubeldía’s departure. Negotiations over the former coach’s contract termination continue, yet CBF approval allows Crespo to oversee match-day duties while those details are resolved.
