The opening Formula One practice session for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone was briefly disrupted on Friday after separate spins by Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and IndyCar-bound reserve driver Gabriel Bortoleto at Copse Corner. Gasly lost control of his A524 midway through the session, executing a full 360-degree pirouette before rejoining without apparent damage. Roughly 20 minutes later Bortoleto, running in a guest outing for McLaren, rotated twice—completing a 720-degree spin—before safely returning to the track. Neither incident caused red-flag interruptions and both drivers continued their programmes, but the sequence of high-speed pirouettes underlined the low-grip conditions teams face ahead of qualifying on Saturday and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
