Newcastle United have reached a broad agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign winger Anthony Elanga for about £55 million, with performance-related add-ons that could lift the cost to roughly £60 million, according to multiple reports including The Athletic, Sky Sports and talkSPORT. The 23-year-old Sweden international is expected to undergo a medical within 48 hours and sign a five-year contract on Tyneside. The accord caps a week of negotiations that began with Newcastle’s improved £55 million offer on 3 July after an earlier £45 million bid was rejected. Manchester United, who inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause when they sold Elanga to Forest in 2023, stand to collect about £8 million from the transfer. Elanga played every Premier League match last season, contributing six goals and 11 assists as Forest finished seventh and qualified for the UEFA Conference League. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe views the pacey wide player as a key addition as the club prepares for a return to Champions League competition.
