Newcastle United are examining a deal for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as they shift focus away from Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, according to multiple sources close to the negotiations. The Tyneside club have yet to open formal talks with Brentford, but discussions are expected in the coming days alongside negotiations over personal terms with the 28-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international. Brentford value Wissa at £30-40 million and may decide on a sale only after resolving the future of team-mate Bryan Mbeumo, who is being pursued by Manchester United. Nottingham Forest have already had an offer for Wissa rejected. The striker, whose contract runs until June 2026 with an additional one-year option, scored 19 Premier League goals from open play last season, the highest non-penalty tally in the division. Newcastle had prioritised Ekitike but cooled their interest after Frankfurt dismissed an €80 million bid. Wissa now sits high on their alternative shortlist as manager Eddie Howe seeks to add firepower ahead of the new campaign.
