London Fire Brigade deployed ten fire engines and roughly 70 firefighters on 7 July after a blaze erupted in a storage area behind shops on Electric Avenue in Brixton, south London. Thick smoke prompted the closure of nearby Brixton Underground station and caused severe delays on the Victoria line. Residents were advised to keep windows closed while crews tackled the fire. The fire was brought under control at 1:11 p.m., and no injuries were reported, according to the brigade. The Metropolitan Police later confirmed the arrest of a man in his 40s on suspicion of arson. A crime scene cordon remains in place as detectives examine the cause of the incident and appeal for further information.
