Former Spice Girl Melanie “Mel B” Brown married longtime partner Rory McPhee on 5 July at the Crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, one of the few non-royals permitted to wed at the historic church. Brown’s appointment as an MBE for her domestic-violence advocacy qualified the couple for the venue. Brown, 50, wore a custom Josephine Scott gown for the ceremony, later changing into a Justin Alexander dress for the reception at the Shangri-La Hotel inside The Shard. McPhee, a 37-year-old hairstylist from Leeds, opted for a traditional Scottish kilt. Emma Bunton was the sole Spice Girls bandmate in attendance, while Victoria Beckham and Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm sent congratulations from abroad and Geri Halliwell remained silent. Other guests included model Cara Delevingne, comedian Katherine Ryan and model Daisy Lowe. The pair began dating in 2019 and became engaged in October 2022 during a Berkshire getaway. Brown, who has three daughters from previous relationships, said McPhee helped her regain confidence after past abusive partnerships. Brown told British media she plans a second, “informal and sexy” celebration overseas later this summer, offering absent friends and bandmates another chance to join the festivities.
