According to the government notice issued on 21 July, the latest measures concentrate on entities and individuals tied to President Vladimir Putin’s key energy and oil sectors. London said the expanded list is intended to tighten economic pressure on Moscow by further limiting access to critical technology, services and financial channels that underpin Russia’s fossil-fuel revenues. The action brings the tally of UK sanctions linked to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to well over 2,000, reinforcing similar steps by allies in the United States and European Union.
