Negotiations regarding the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon jets to Türkiye are progressing positively, with all four partner nations supporting the deal. The UK’s Istanbul Consul General, Kenan Poleo, confirmed the favorable atmosphere surrounding the discussions. The Eurofighter consortium, which includes the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain, has faced production challenges due to a lack of new orders, putting the UK production line at risk of closure. British officials are reportedly pressuring Germany to avoid complications in the final stages of the deal. Rhys McCarthy, the National Aerospace Officer for the Unite union, emphasized the urgency of placing new orders to sustain the aerospace supply chain in the UK. The UK government remains confident that the long-delayed purchase by Türkiye will proceed, marking a critical step forward in the Eurofighter sales process.
