OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said he has not spoken with Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg since Meta hired several of OpenAI’s senior engineers earlier this year. Altman told reporters at the annual Sun Valley tech and media conference in Idaho that a meeting between the two executives is expected later this week and that he is “looking forward to it.” Altman did not elaborate on the number of staff who left OpenAI or the circumstances of their recruitment, but the departures have heightened competition between the two companies as they race to commercialize generative-AI services. The OpenAI founder also commented on U.S. politics, saying he no longer feels represented by the Democratic Party, without indicating any change in his political support.
