
Chinese state-sponsored hackers have compromised Canadian government networks over the past five years, according to a report from Canada's cyber spy agency, the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). The hackers accessed at least 20 federal, provincial, territorial, municipal, and Indigenous government networks, collecting valuable communications and other information. This breach underscores the persistent and sophisticated nature of cyber threats posed by state actors. Additionally, Sophos revealed a five-year battle with Chinese hackers who repeatedly exploited its firewalls, tracing the activity to a university and contractor in Chengdu.
