Red Deer Minor Hockey has opened an internal investigation into coach and former National Hockey League enforcer Nick Tarnasky after a video showed him in a violent confrontation at Alberta Springs Golf Resort outside Red Deer, Alberta. The footage, which began circulating online this week, depicts Tarnasky arguing with another golfer about pace of play before lifting the man into a pond and striking him several times. Local police said officers were called to the course at about 5:47 p.m. after reports of an intoxicated golfer instigating fights. The individual had left the grounds before authorities arrived, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed that Tarnasky is not the subject of any further criminal investigation. Tarnasky played 245 NHL games with Tampa Bay, Nashville and Florida between 2005 and 2010, amassing nearly 300 penalty minutes, and later played in the AHL before turning to coaching. Red Deer Minor Hockey said it will issue no further comment while its review proceeds.
