Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise his role as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ next Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Hollywood Reporter confirms the casting, which brings the actor back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe 14 years after he first appeared in The Avengers. Ruffalo will be joined by Michael Mando, who returns as Mac Gargan, the villainous Scorpion first introduced in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Jon Bernthal is also on the call sheet to reprise the Punisher, creating a line-up that insiders say will pit Spider-Man, Hulk and Punisher against one another before they unite against a larger threat. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the sequel from a script by longtime Spider-Man writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Principal photography is scheduled to begin this month in England, with Glasgow standing in for New York City. Sony has set a theatrical release for July 31, 2026.
