Sony Pictures Animation has pushed back the release of “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” by three weeks to 25 June 2027, moving it from its previously announced 4 June slot. People familiar with the decision said the later date is expected to capture a larger school-holiday audience in the United States and improve the film’s positioning overseas. The animated feature is the third instalment in the studio’s acclaimed multiverse franchise. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” won the 2019 Oscar for best animated feature and collected $393.6 million worldwide, while its 2023 sequel “Across the Spider-Verse” more than doubled that take with $690.5 million. The new timetable means the upcoming picture will reach cinemas roughly four years after the second film’s cliff-hanger ending. Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are returning to direct from a script by franchise architects Phil Lord, Chris Miller and David Callaham. Sony also dated the original animated comedy “Buds” for 12 March 2027 as it firms up its release calendar.
