The 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) opened on August 8 in Beijing’s Yizhuang district, marking the event's 10th anniversary. The five-day conference features over 1,500 cutting-edge robotic products from more than 200 domestic and international companies, representing a 25% increase in participating firms from the previous year. The event serves as a key global barometer for robotics innovation and development trends, with a focus on embodied intelligent robots in areas such as cognition, decision-making, safety, and real-world applications. Highlights include demonstrations of humanoid robots performing diverse tasks such as dancing, playing musical instruments, providing medical assistance, moving boxes, and offering companionship. Notably, UBTECH Robotics unveiled the Walker S2, the world’s first humanoid robot capable of autonomous battery swapping in three minutes, enabling continuous operation. The conference also coincides with the Beijing Championship of the World Robot Contest, featuring over 30 major and 70 minor events with more than 100 competition groups. Additional activities include robot talent shows and the debut of a robot band at the World Humanoid Robot Games. The event underscores China's rapid advancements in robotics technology, manufacturing efficiency, and expanding market potential. Beijing’s Yizhuang area announced a social experiment program targeting embodied intelligence to further foster innovation. The conference highlights the growing integration of robots into daily life and workplaces, showcasing their evolving roles as health guardians, emergency responders, and collaborators in various industries. The robotics exhibition also features 50 humanoid robot manufacturers presenting the latest innovations, including robots capable of playing soccer, boxing, archery, weightlifting, and other athletic feats. The event coincides with the opening of the world’s first robot-themed mall and restaurant in Beijing, where robots serve as bartenders, waitstaff, and performers, demonstrating the expanding commercial applications of robotic technology.
