Two Chinese nationals were killed and a 23-year-old Indonesian remains missing after the fast boat Dolphin II capsized near Sanur Port, Bali, around 3:00 p.m. local time on 5 August, Indonesian rescue authorities said. The vessel had been travelling from Nusa Penida with 75 passengers—including 73 foreign tourists—and five crew members when it was hit by large waves and overturned close to shore. The Bali Search and Rescue Office reported that 77 people were pulled to safety. Search teams deployed inflatable boats to scour the area for the missing Indonesian passenger while the overturned craft was secured on a nearby beach. China’s consulate general in Denpasar said it had activated its emergency response mechanism, is coordinating with Indonesian authorities and is assisting the families of the deceased. The mission urged Chinese travellers in Indonesia to monitor sea conditions and prioritise safety as the investigation into the accident continues.
