ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, has launched a new generative AI platform called Jimeng AI, aimed at competing with similar services like OpenAI's Sora and Kuaishou's Kling. The Jimeng AI app, which generates videos from text prompts, is available on iOS and Android in China, following its initial desktop release in May and its Android release on July 31. The app adopts a subscription model, charging CNY69 (USD9.70) per month or CNY659 (USD92) annually. Features of Jimeng AI include AI picture creation, video creation, sharing options, exploring creative works, and personalized creations. This launch highlights the growing competition between Chinese and US tech firms in the rapidly evolving AI sector.
