The trial of exiled Chinese businessman Miles Guo, accused of operating a political movement as a vast racketeering conspiracy, is nearing its conclusion in the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Manhattan federal prosecutors have urged the jury to convict Guo for allegedly scamming supporters out of more than $1 billion through fraudulent investments. The jury has been deliberating but has yet to reach a verdict. During the deliberations, a juror was removed for Googling co-defendant William Je, leading to a request for a mistrial. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer sent the jury home for the weekend, and deliberations will resume on Monday.
