Chinese developer Game Science announced "Black Myth: Zhong Kui," the second installment in its mythology-driven action-role-playing franchise, during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 on Tuesday. A brief computer-generated teaser introduced Zhong Kui, a ghost-hunting figure from Chinese folklore who rides a tiger, confirming the title as a single-player action RPG in early development. The studio said the game will launch on PC and "mainstream console platforms," but stopped short of providing a release window or gameplay footage. Host Geoff Keighley added that additional content for 2024’s "Black Myth: Wukong" remains in the pipeline, suggesting the original story arc is not finished. "Black Myth: Wukong" became China’s first global AAA hit, moving 10 million copies within three days of release and setting the record for the highest concurrent-player peak for a single-player title on Steam. Game Science said the new project aims to build on that success while experimenting with fresh mechanics and narrative ideas.
