Heavy rainfall and flooding have severely impacted multiple regions in China, particularly in the southwest and southern provinces. In Guangxi, towns and villages along a major river lay half-submerged as floodwaters from an upstream province inundated the mountainous area, with the approach of a tropical cyclone increasing disaster risks. The annual 'Plum Rains' have triggered flash floods and landslides across northern and western China, prompting the mobilization of thousands of rescue workers. In Sichuan Province, torrential rains caused a landslide in Shizhuang Village, Xuyong County, burying a house and leaving five people missing. Over 6,000 residents in Yibin city were evacuated due to the flooding, and 678 households in Xingwen County were relocated following a Level IV flood emergency. In the Xizang autonomous region, over 350 people were relocated after a flash flood struck Gyirong County. Southwest China's Yunnan Province experienced record-breaking rainfall, with 255 mm falling in 12 hours in Weixin County, causing one death and leaving at least five people missing. More than 7,000 people were evacuated in Yunnan's mountainous city of Zhaotong. The heavy rains have also caused infrastructure damage, including the collapse of the Friendship Bridge. Authorities continue search and rescue operations amid ongoing extreme weather conditions.
