Indonesian authorities have arrested a suspect wanted by China for running a $14 billion investment scam. The suspect, Lyu Dong, a Chinese national, is believed to be one of the key figures behind the scam hubs in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga in Central Luzon. Dong was apprehended in Biñan, Laguna on October 10. Additionally, authorities in Manila have confirmed the arrest of Lin Qiang, the fugitive founder and CEO of Shanghai HHSC Capital Management Co. Ltd., in Bali on October 1. Lin's firm collapsed in October 2023, leaving a $4.15 billion debt. Both suspects have been handed over to Interpol. The scams defrauded tens of thousands of people and were linked to POGOs and scam farms.
