OpenAI has announced a restriction on access to its services for China-based firms, effective from July 9. This move, announced last month, has prompted a significant response from Chinese developers, who are now seeking alternatives to OpenAI's technology. Local AI companies such as Baidu and SenseTime are capitalizing on this opportunity by offering incentives to attract developers. Baidu is providing 50 million free tokens and free AI model fine-tuning, while SenseTime is also offering 50 million tokens. Zhipu is another company stepping in with incentives. Despite the ban, OpenAI's technology remains accessible in China through Microsoft's Azure China platform.
