The House Oversight Committee, led by RepJamesComer, has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) alleged efforts to infiltrate and influence various sectors and communities within the United States, targeting the CCP's political warfare. This probe aims to assess the extent of China's 'political warfare' and evaluate the federal government's response to these activities. The investigation will scrutinize nine different federal agencies and cover a wide range of sectors, including education, agriculture, and national security. The move comes amid heightened concerns over China's tactics to undermine U.S. sovereignty and security, highlighted by the discovery of unauthorized communication devices in cranes at U.S. ports manufactured by the CCP-backed firm ZPMC. This initiative reflects growing bipartisan support for measures to counter the CCP's influence, exemplified by the sponsorship of H.R. 7476, the Countering Communist China Act, which is described as the strongest legislation against the CCP ever introduced to Congress.
We must counter the CCP's asymmetrical warfare. It is our duty on @GOPoversight to ensure federal agencies are doing everything possible to combat Communist China's influence. https://t.co/BzoFB7IxMM
