Samsung has surpassed Apple in global phone sales for the second consecutive quarter, as reported by Counterpoint Research. The global smartphone market saw a 12% surge, with Samsung continuing to lead. In China, Apple has dropped out of the top five smartphone sellers in Q2 2024, highlighting the rise of Chinese mobile phone makers. In India, smartphone shipments fell by 2% year-on-year in the April-June quarter, impacted by heatwaves, seasonal downturns, and sluggish demand. Despite this, Xiaomi led the Indian smartphone market with an 18.9% shipment share, followed closely by Vivo with 18.8% and Samsung with 18.1%. The Indian smartphone market also recorded its highest-ever revenue for Q2, hitting a record value. Meanwhile, Apple's iPhone shipments in India declined by 14% year-on-year due to intense market competition.
