Chinese robotics maker Unitree Robotics has unveiled the A2 “Stellar Hunter,” a next-generation quadruped robot aimed at industrial and rugged-terrain work. The four-legged machine weighs about 37 kilograms, can travel up to 20 kilometres on one charge and reaches speeds of around 5 metres per second, according to specifications released with Tuesday’s announcement. Unitree says the lighter and stronger A2 is engineered for tasks such as inspection and logistics in environments that are difficult for wheeled robots or humans to navigate. The launch underscores growing competition among robot dog manufacturers to supply factories, construction sites and other commercial settings with autonomous mobility platforms.
