Ecuador has deported over 800 Colombian prisoners back to Colombia via land, a move that has escalated tensions between the two neighboring countries. Colombia has received the first group of approximately 450 deportees at the border and reported the arrival of more than 600 citizens deported from Ecuador. The Colombian government, led by President Gustavo Petro, has protested the deportations, asserting that the rights of the deported individuals were not respected. This decision has prompted a diplomatic dispute between the administrations of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa and Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Political analysts have called for firmness from both leaders to manage the ongoing diplomatic tensions. Separately, Colombian military forces seized one ton of explosives from dissident groups, and FARC dissidents released state contractors who had been kidnapped.
