Apple posted fiscal third-quarter revenue of $94 billion, a 10% increase from a year earlier and ahead of Wall Street expectations, with earnings per share of $1.57. The company credited double-digit growth in iPhone, Mac and Services sales, as U.S. and Chinese customers rushed to buy handsets before higher import duties take full effect. IPhone unit revenue jumped about 13.5%, helping Apple deliver its strongest top-line growth in three years. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said tariffs increased costs by $800 million in the June quarter and could add a further $1.1 billion in the current period. Despite that headwind, Apple projected revenue for the quarter ending in September that is “well above” analysts’ estimates, although some investors questioned whether demand was merely pulled forward. Separately, Cook on 1 August became Apple’s longest-serving chief executive, reaching 5,091 days at the helm and surpassing the 5,090-day tenure of co-founder Steve Jobs. During Cook’s leadership, Apple has broadened its product lineup, expanded into high-margin services and navigated geopolitical trade pressures, lifting quarterly sales to levels that exceed the company’s full-year revenue a decade ago.
