Shopify Inc. reported second-quarter 2025 revenue of $2.68 billion, a 31 percent increase from a year earlier and ahead of analysts’ $2.55 billion consensus. Operating income reached $291 million, also exceeding expectations of $247.7 million, as the Ottawa-based e-commerce platform benefited from rising online sales activity. Gross merchandise volume—the total value of goods sold through Shopify-powered stores—rose 31 percent to $87.8 billion, while monthly recurring revenue climbed to $185 million from $169 million a year ago. The results highlight continued merchant adoption of the company’s software and payments tools. Looking to the third quarter, Shopify said it expects revenue to grow at a mid-to-high twenties percentage rate year over year and forecast gross profit dollars will increase in the low-twenties percentage range, suggesting momentum will continue although at a slightly slower pace.
