Spotify Technology SA said it will raise the monthly fee for its Premium Individual plan to €11.99 from €10.99 in most markets outside the United States beginning in September. The increase applies across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region, with customers receiving email notifications over the coming weeks. The Swedish streaming company said the adjustment is intended to bolster margins and support product development, echoing a U.S. price hike to $11.99 introduced in June. Earlier increases, coupled with cost-cutting, helped Spotify deliver its first full-year profit in 2024, but higher payroll-related taxes weighed on second-quarter earnings this year. Investors welcomed the announcement: Spotify’s shares rose between 4.6% and nearly 8% in pre-market New York trading on Monday and have gained about 40% so far in 2025.
