A 21-year-old New Jersey resident, Ishaan Sharma, was arrested on battery charges after allegedly attacking a fellow traveller on Frontier Airlines Flight 1203 as it approached Miami International Airport on 30 June. The aircraft had departed Philadelphia earlier in the evening. According to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, Sharma left his seat, grabbed passenger Keanu Evans by the neck and issued verbal threats before a brief brawl ensued. Video filmed by other passengers shows Evans defending himself while crew members and travellers tried to separate the men. Evans sustained minor scratches, while Sharma suffered a cut above his left eyebrow that required medical attention. Deputies met the aircraft on arrival, transported Sharma to a hospital for treatment and then booked him into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Jail records show he faces a single count of battery and a $500 bond. Frontier Airlines said safety and security are its top priorities and declined further comment on the open investigation.
