Dmitry Khoroshev, identified as the leader of the notorious ransomware group LockBit, has been sanctioned and indicted by the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. This action follows a coordinated international effort led by the National Crime Agency (NCA) which successfully disrupted LockBit's operations, involved in a $120 million hacking rampage. LockBit, responsible for extorting over $1 billion from its victims, including more than 200 UK businesses, has been a major player in global cybercrime. The sanctions are part of a broader crackdown on malicious cyber activities emanating from Russia. Khoroshev, also known as 'putinkrab', has been accused of breaching the code of honor among cybercriminals by targeting fellow Russians. The US has also offered a $10M reward for information leading to Khoroshev's capture.
