Investigators in two U.S. cities are examining separate arson incidents directed at law-enforcement property within 24 hours. In Southwest Miami-Dade, surveillance footage shows a marked Hollywood Police cruiser parked outside a home on Southwest 139th Avenue erupting in flames shortly after midnight on 8 August. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives have classified the blaze as arson; the person seen running from the scene has not been identified, and no injuries were reported. In Las Vegas, an employee discovered a fire in landscaping along the west wall of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s headquarters at about midday on 9 August. The Las Vegas Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames, preventing injuries or structural damage. Detectives released images of a suspect—described as a Black man aged 25–35 wearing a black-and-white shirt—and appealed for public assistance through the LVMPD Fusion Watch Center and Crime Stoppers hotlines.
