Authorities have uncovered human remains at the Rehoboth, Massachusetts home of 22-year-old Gregory Groom and intend to charge him with the murder of his missing girlfriend, 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said late Tuesday. The remains are “consistent with” Monteiro, who was about 11 weeks pregnant when she disappeared on Aug. 7 after last being seen at Groom’s residence, according to investigators. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death. Groom is already being held without bail on separate counts of aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness stemming from an Aug. 6 incident involving Monteiro. He is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Taunton District Court on those charges, and prosecutors say a murder charge will be added.
