American Express has made several updates to its credit card offerings, notably increasing the annual fee for the Gold card by $75, from $250 to $325. Despite the fee hike, some users believe the benefits still justify the cost, provided they utilize the card's features effectively. Additionally, the Amex Platinum card, which has a $695 annual fee, has received positive feedback for enhancements to the Centurion Lounge, including improved food quality and customer service. Furthermore, American Express is set to increase its Global Entry statement credits to $120 starting in October, and the Clear Plus credit will rise to $199 on six cards, which remains sufficient to cover a full membership for one individual. These changes come as part of a broader trend among credit card issuers to enhance benefits while adjusting fees.

$COST allows membership renewals up to ninety days in advance of expiration so I just renewed to avoid the price hike coming in September. They charge the current $120/year rate until then, even for memberships expiring in October. My 2% cash back will exceed the exec upcharge.
